Putin calls for production of missiles previously banned under 1988 treaty
Russia's President Vladimir Putin has ordered the production of missiles previously banned under a now defunct arms control treaty with the United States. The Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty banned the use of some ground based nuclear and conventional missiles. It was regarded as an arms control landmark when it was signed in 1988. Putin said we need to start production of these strike systems at a meeting of the National Security Council.
