Denmark’s Thomas Delaney proud of effort after Germany loss
Denmark midfielder Thomas Delaney was weary after his squad dropped a 2-0 defeat to Germany in the EURO 2024 tournament’s Round of 16.
Still, Delaney was very proud of how the Danes played against Germany.
“It’s a proud moment to wear the jersey and it’s always emotional. Of course, this was more emotional than the average game, and in the end, we wanted to give back [to the fans]. It saddens me at the moment that we didn’t give a victory back to the fans. It’s tough right now,” Delaney told UEFA.com. “We are disappointed, yet still proud. We suffered a lot today. It was amazing to play here again against a good team.”
Delaney played a key role in one of the game’s pivotal moments as he was ruled offside on a would-be goal from Joachim Andersen. For his part, Delaney chose to speak about the team’s fight and effort rather than a very iffy VAR decision.
