Maldwyn Evans: 4-year-old boy crushed to death by lawnmower
A boy of four died after being crushed by an antique lawnmower, an inquest has heard.
Maldwyn Evans was described by his family as a “keen little farmer” who “lived his short life to the fullest”.
The court was told Maldwyn died in the garden of his home in Tynreithyn, west Wales, last Thursday. He had tried pushing the vintage garden roller when it struck his legs and “went over part of his body”.

The inquest in Aberystwyth heard that a post-mortem examination had yet to take place. Dyfed-Powys Police have said they were not treating the death as suspicious.
Proceedings were adjourned for a full inquest on October 9.
Details of the tragedy were revealed on Tuesday when a family tribute was released alongside a picture of Maldwyn, nicknamed “Gwern.” In the photo, Maldwyn is smiling in muddy wellies in front of pens full of sheep.
His family said: “We are incredibly distraught by our tragic loss, and he will be greatly missed by us and the entire community.
“He was a loving son and a caring brother who touched the hearts of so many. He lived his short life to the fullest and will be remembered for his captivating personality.
“He was a keen little farmer with knowledge and ability beyond his years.
“We thank everyone for their support and kindness at this horrific time. It has meant so much to the whole family.”
Joyce George, headteacher of Pontrhydfendigaid School, where Maldwyn was a pupil, said: “We are incredibly saddened to hear this tragic news.
“We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family at this unfortunate time. We will be providing help and support to both our pupils and staff.”
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: “Our thoughts are with the family who are receiving support.”
