Jannik Sinner claim made by former Wimbledon star as Novak Djokovic is put on notice

Ana Ivanovic has heaped praise on Jannik Sinner, the new tennis world No.1 - claiming he has "no weaknesses" in his game.

The 2008 French Open winner and wife of football star Bastian Schweinsteiger is impressed with the Italian's rise to the top, especially after his Grand Slam win at the Australian Open this year.

Sinner, who recently overtook Novak Djokovic in the ATP rankings, became the highest-ranked Italian singles player ever. Ivanovic, who hung up her racket in 2016, is all praises for the South Tyrol native's flawless play, reports the Express.

Chatting with Gazzetta, the former tennis ace gushed about Sinner: "I'm really happy to see Sinner at number one in the world. I love his style of play and also his personality. You can't see any weaknesses in his game, he's strong from all sides. He seems very focused and composed and I love watching him play."

Meanwhile, Djokovic is gearing up for Wimbledon next month, recovering from a knee injury sustained at the French Open. Despite this setback, Ivanovic believes the Serbian legend is set to bounce back and add more Grand Slam titles to his already impressive tally of 24.

"You can never rule him out," she insisted. "Despite the latest injury, I know he will return to form and can definitely win more Grand Slam tournaments in the coming years."

While Djokovic has outshone tennis greats Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in terms of Grand Slam wins, John McEnroe has voiced his opinion that Djokovic receives "unfair treatment" from fans despite the thrill he's brought to the game for over a decade.

Jannik Sinner was asked about his relationship after winning his match at the French Open

"Novak has not only equalled them (Federer and Nadal) but surpassed them in overall achievements, which seemed impossible," McEnroe told Metro. "Both of those guys, Rafa and Roger, they are total class acts. They are loved and respected around the world.

"Novak gets the unfair treatment. He's the villain, the bad guy. I guess you need a good guy and a bad guy in a way. It can help the sport when you have rivalries like that. I think it's been unfair, honestly, because he is great for the game," the American legend added.

"On and off the court. He's been able to do something that I wasn't able to do nearly as well which is turning lemons into lemonade. You know, when people want to see the underdog or someone else winning, he somehow uses that as fuel to help him. That's an incredible quality which you can't underestimate."
