Pakistan Super League (PSL) side Lahore Qalandars took to X (formerly Twitter) to reserve massive praise for Rashid Khan and hail his exceptional leadership in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan reached the T20 World Cup semifinal for the first time in history this year but was unable to qualify for the summit clash. After Afghanistan suffered a heartbreaking defeat by nine wickets against South Africa in the first semifinal played in Trinidad on Thursday (June 27), Rashid’s PSL side praised his inspiring captaincy.
“Rashid Khan, as captain, has shown remarkable leadership and resilience, inspiring not only his teammates but also fans around the world. Their journey has been inspiring, showing great skill and determination throughout. They've undoubtedly earned respect and admiration for their efforts in the tournament. @rashidkhan_19 #T20WorldCup #qalandarbrothers,” two-time PSL champions tweeted.
Rashid won back-to-back PSL titles with Lahore Qalandars in 2022 and 2023 but missed the 2024 edition of the six-team tournament due to an injury. In his absence, Qalandars finished last in the points table.

In the first semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024, Afghanistan posted a total of 56 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 11.5 overs, which was easily chased down by the Proteas for the loss of one wicket in 8.5 overs. Marco Jansen and Tabraiz Shamsi picked up three wickets each for the Aiden Markram-led side, and two batters each were dismissed by Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.

In the final of the ongoing shortest format mega-event, South Africa will face the winner of the second semifinal, which will be played between India and England in Guyana on Thursday (June 27). There are high chances of rain during the match between India and England, and if the match gets washed out, Rohit Sharma’s men will qualify for the final.
