Patriot for Ukraine: Duda on why Poland cannot transfer system

Poland is currently only receiving the first Patriot systems it ordered seven years ago. Which is why Warsaw cannot transfer the air defense system to Ukraine, according to the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

"It is difficult to talk about transferring the Patriot system to Ukraine now when we in Poland do not yet have this system completed for the needs of our own defense," he said.

He added that Poland was the first country to send arms to Ukraine.

Duda reminded that Warsaw also provided Ukraine with equipment of significant value and has supported it militarily all along. Another element of support, he mentioned, is lobbying by allies for Ukraine's support.

Patriot for Ukraine

As part of support for Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression, Germany has announced the transfer of another Patriot air defense system. In addition to the German system, Ukraine expects that the United States may also provide one Patriot system. This initiative was actively supported by Germany.

Earlier, Ukraine had already received missiles for the Patriot systems from Spain and other Western allies. The transfer of these systems is an important step in helping Ukraine defend its airspace against Russian attacks.
