Ja Morant, Grizzlies Make Their Feelings On Zach Edey Pick Extremely Clear
Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies absolutely loved the team's Zach Edey pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. They made it abundantly clear on social media as Morant and his teammates quickly reacted to the selection.
The Grizzlies selected Edey with the No. 9 overall pick in the draft. While it's quite the surprise since the Purdue big man was projected to be a mid-first round pick rather than a lottery selection, the team's stars were definitely hyped with his addition.
On X (formerly Twitter), Morant reposted the Grizzlies' welcome message for Edey, signaling his delight over the pick. Furthermore on Instagram, the superstar guard used a "Rush Hour" reference to share how he feels about their newcomer.
Jaren Jackson Jr., meanwhile, posted a number of saluting face emojis. Sure enough, it looks like JJJ is excited to have another partner on the Memphis frontcourt.
For his part, Desmond Bane could only exclaim "LETS GOOOOO" as he showed how hyped he is to have the Canadian giant on his side.
Several critics have doubts whether or not Zach Edey's game will translate in the NBA despite him averaging 25.2 points and 12.2 rebounds in his final season with Purdue. He is largely seen as a traditional big man, with his mobility being a main issue in a league where bigs are expected to stretch the floor.
However, Memphis really needed a physical big to pair up with Jackson so they won't be manhandled when facing teams with dominant centers. With that said, Edey seems to be a really good fit.

It remains to be seen how Edey will fare with the Grizzlies, but it's clear Ja Morant and Co. couldn't wait to get started with him.
