Jamie Oliver’s son Buddy, 13, lands own BBC cookery show

Buddy Oliver, the 13-year-old son of Jamie Oliver, has landed his own BBC cookery show.
Cooking Buddies will see the would-be chef sharing his passion for cooking and demonstrating how to make dishes including spicy tomato pasta, pizza and crispy chicken.
The show will feature “surprise appearances from the Oliver family” and will be co-produced by Jamie Oliver’s media company.
Cooking Buddies originated on YouTube but has now been turned into a CBBC children’s series.
Jamie Oliver said: “Being able to cook is such an important skill for kids to learn, it’s up there with reading and writing, so I’m really proud of Buddy for making this brilliant show that encourages others to give it a go.
“Full of easy, big-flavour recipes that will keep children happy and healthy, I hope it inspires people to get in the kitchen and try cooking for themselves.”

The TV chef has previously said that Buddy would “earn his trade” and joked: “Maybe he will take over from me one day and I can retire.”
Cooking Buddies begins on July 10 and in each episode Buddy swaps skills with another young person. He shows them how to make a simple meal and they show him something they are good at such as basketball, ice skating or salsa dancing.
‘Overall it was nice and fun’
Buddy said: “Making the TV show was epic – it was really fun to learn some cool new skills from other kids, but also to teach them dishes that they can share with their friends.”
His favourite recipes in the show are pasta and “a fully loaded fish finger sarnie”, he said.
Buddy added that it was “a bit annoying when dad came over” to join him on screen “but overall it was nice and fun”.
The schoolboy has 134,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel which includes cookery tips alongside recipes. The TV show will include advice on everything from chopping techniques to ingredient swaps, according to the programme guide.
Buddy is not the only child of a famous chef to land their own show. Gordon Ramsay’s daughter, Tilly, had her own CBBC show, Matilda and the Ramsay Bunch, which began when she was around 14. It combined cookery demonstrations with the family’s adventures in Los Angeles.
