Queen Maxima of the Netherlands was effortlessly stylish as she stepped out in a vibrant summer ensemble in Friesland today.

The royal, 53, donned a chic sheer red top embroidered with floral designs - and asymmetric ruffle detailing added a fun flair to the look.

A pair of flared blue jeans completed the outfit and made her colourful wardrobe pop.

The mother-of-three opted to accessorise with a large clutch, tasselled bright crimson earrings and a pair of navy heels.

She pinned her blonde tresses up, away from her face, and parted her locks to the side.

The Queen travelled to the province to visit Vereniging Circulair Friesland, a partnership between various companies and organisations in the field of sustainability.

It looks at ways in which the world can use reuse existing raw materials most effectively and sustainably. The organisation aims to make Friesland completely sustainable and free of wasting raw materials by next year.

Maxima looked to be enjoying the 28-degree weather in the region, as she sat outside the building with members of the association in the sun.

The Queen was snapped smiling and laughing with attendees at the event, as they enjoyed glasses of cool bottled water.

It's already been a busy week for Maxima and her husband, who hosted their annual Uitblinkerslunch at Noordeinde Palace yesterday.

The regal couple honoured people with remarkable achievements in sectors such as science or sports.

The lunch celebrated the accomplishments of 28 Dutch people who have distinguished themselves.

On Monday, the pair also hosted a reception and lunch for Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his wife Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad Al Thani at Noordeinde Castle.

The official visit was intended to strengthen the relationship between the Netherlands and Qatar.
