Young gun's nightmare miss ends Swans streak

Fremantle has pulled off a miracle one-point victory over ladder-leaders Sydney at the SCG.

The Dockers led by as many as five goals, but in true Sydney fashion, the Swans came hunting in the second half.

It came down to Swans key forward Logan McDonald, who had a shot on goal with under 30 seconds on the clock.

The Dockers held a one-point led, with a behind giving the teams a draw, or a goal skyrocketing Sydney to victory.

McDonald took his 30 seconds to line up for goal, strolling in, but missed the goals completely, with Fremantle players frantically working to keep the ball away from the behind line.

Some fairytale win streaks don't last forever, with the Swans unbeaten run of 12 games finally coming to an end.

The Swans did hold Fremantle to just one goal in the last term, as they piled on three of their own, but it wasn't enough to snatch victory.

Fremantle skipper Alex Pearce, who is out with an injured arm, expressed his relief after his side's win.

"F---ing heart attack," Pearce said on social media.

Jordan Clark celebrates winning by one point over Sydney in round 16.

It was another slow start for the Swans that has finally cost them the four points.

The Dockers kicked seven goals to two in the opening term, managing to hold off the fast-finishing Swans for the remainder of the afternoon.

Sydney don't need to panic just yet, but it's another rocky start that could cost them come September.

They also let Geelong boot five unanswered goals on them in round 13, while against the Crows in round 14, they also were held to just two goals in the opening term.

The Swans snatched victory in both of those matches, but coach John Longmire will want to fix their sluggish starts as finals loom.

The dynamic trio of Sydney's midfield, Chad Warner (23 disposals), Errol Gulden (21 disposals) and Isaac Heeney (20 disposals), were unable to break the shackles of the Dockers defensive game.

Fremantle jump into the top four with this win, but the Swans still remain three games clear in first.
