Over the past week, members of Generation Z have taken to the streets in opposition to the Finance Bill 2024.

On Tuesday, June 25, the situation reached a critical point as protests culminated in the breach of parliament, arson, and the vandalism of government infrastructure.

Adding to the anxiety, a video has surfaced online showing a person believed to be a police officer in plain clothes firing at residents inside an unidentified apartment.

However, the circumstances of this incident and its relation to the anti-finance bill protests remain unclear.

Kenyans react to video of police shooting at residents

@lipundaKE asked:

"@JoeBiden I just want to know how the Kenyan president persuaded you he could fight gangs in Haiti when his regime back there in Kenya has conveniently established a gang outside the law to kill peaceful protesters. Is this what you call democracy and sovereignty? Where is the @UN at? What do your doctrines say about this?"

@jbenhur_ said:

"The guy is shooting as if he's on a Hollywood action set. Police should wake up and know this is real life and these are real people with families."

@done_grass reacted:

"What on earth is going on? Who is he taking cover from? This would be hilarious if it was not so tragic."

@YouthAdvocateKe responded

"Hana aibu na ako na fees arrears hajamaliza. Shame."

@virginiah2 said:

"Why’s he even taking cover? Civilians aren’t armed!"

@tulindekenya observed:

"He wants to change the constitution and rule us forever! He must be stopped at this stage otherwise we might end up With another dictator in Kenya."

@naicyndie

"Someone's son! I hope your mother is proud of you for killing innocent people!"

@facts_storms

"Why kill innocent civilians especially when they are unarmed, this is a total disaster, it’s not too late the President should engage with Kenyans and address the issue."

@critic_smart said:

"Very unfortunate."
