2024 NFL OTAs: Players who surprised us most at minicamp | ESPN
Tight end Darren Waller’s retirement opened opportunities for others. It looked this spring like Lawrence Cager and fourth-round pick Theo Johnson will be asked to fill that pass-catching role. Both received some first-team reps and made plays in what primarily serves as a passing camp. Coach Brian Daboll even mentioned that Cager was “probably one of the most improved players throughout the offseason,” which could open the door for him to make a significant contribution this season.

NY Giants: Capturing best moments from team's Night with Legends | The Record
Schoen revealed that he recently was given copies of scouting reports written by the late Wellington Mara, who started his career with the Giants as a scout. It's all been part of what Schoen considered an important history lesson on the franchise, and he has gained an even greater appreciation entering his third year as GM.
“Things I didn’t know, how the team was purchased, and just [Wellington Mara's] love and passion for the game," Schoen said. “To be a part of the 100th season is really cool for me. You see the list of people that are going to be here and your name is in that company, OK, who doesn’t belong? It’s pretty cool."
Giants’ 2022 draft class entering pivotal make-or-break season | New York Post
The rule of thumb in the NFL is to avoid grading a draft class until after three seasons.
Well, in many ways, the Giants’ 2024 season hinges on their 2022 draft class, with most of general manager Joe Schoen’s 11 picks either entering make-or-break years or being asked to ascend to bigger roles, including Kayvon Thibodeaux, Evan Neal and Wan’Dale Robinson.

11. Giants OLB Brian Burns. New York also has Kayvon Thibodeaux to help the pass rush, but Burns got a lucrative commitment after arriving via trade; specifically, his $28.2 million-per-year average ranks third among all edge rushers, behind only Nick Bosa and Josh Allen, even though he’s had double-digit sacks in just one of four NFL seasons. With Brian Daboll’s offense still a work in progress, he could be critical to their trajectory.
Does Giants’ Brian Daboll have NFL’s hottest seat in 2024? | NJ.com
After the 2022 season it would’ve been unthinkable that Giants coach Brian Daboll could get fired after 2024. But here we are, as Daboll enters a hot seat Year 3.
So does he have the NFL’s hottest seat heading into this season?
What should each NFL team be worried about entering camp? Picking one concern for all 32 | The Athletic
Did they improve enough on the offensive line? You could have asked the same question of the Giants for the past decade, and each season, the answer has remained no. The Giants hope they finally got it right this year, particularly after investing in free agents Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor to fortify the unit. Throughout the spring, Runyan lined up at right guard. Eluemunor assumed the left guard spot, which should create a formidable tandem with left tackle Andrew Thomas, assuming Evan Neal remains at right tackle. But that’s a big assumption. Will Neal play well enough to keep his job? He has been rehabbing after undergoing surgery in January to repair a small fracture in his ankle. The Giants can’t afford another season wrecked by poor offensive line play.
Every Team's Most Important Contract Extension Ahead of 2024 NFL Season | Bleacher Report
The New York Giants' leader in receiving over the last handful of campaigns, Darius Slayton has remained optimistic towards finalizing an extension. While the team added WR Malik Nabers via the draft, Nabers' presence hasn't swayed the importance for Schoen to get a deal done with Slayton. And with tight end Darren Waller now retired, the importance of the veteran in Slayton to align opposite of Nabers in the seasons to come has remained atop the priority list for the Giants' GM.

New York Giants: Eric Gray, RB. Saquon Barkley is gone, and the Giants are desperate for offensive playmakers. The running back room is unsolidified, but if Gray can come in and win the job, he could be a breakout for the Giants and surprise some across the league.
