Washington Commanders' Trade For Brandon Aiyuk: Fact or Fiction?
Despite the alluring connecting of dots, it feels like Brandon Aiyuk to the Washington Commanders is indeed too good to be true.
Washington Commanders' Trade For Brandon Aiyuk: Fact or Fiction?
While the NFL is buzzing about Aiyuk being "interested" in a trade from the San Francisco 49ers and that the two teams did recently hold talks about a potential deal, ultimately ESPN insider Adam Schefter reports that it isn't happening.
"There were some conversations at one point between the 49ers and Commanders," Schefter said on TV Monday afternoon. "The Commanders were interested, but they decided not to do that deal."
Sorry, but despite all the seeming links a trade for Aiyuk feels highly unlikely.
New Washington general manager Adam Peters came from the NFC West, home of the 49ers.
Aiyuk and Commanders' rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels are close friends from their time together at Arizona State.
And Aiyuk would bring a unique, dynamic playmaking receiver to Washington's core group of Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Dyami Brown and rookie Luke McCaffrey.
But where there's smoke there is always a four-alarm fire. Aiyuk, who is seeking a new contract to make him one of the NFL's highest-paid receivers, is meeting this week with 49ers management in hopes of hammering out a new deal.
