The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced a successful prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, following negotiations held on Tuesday, June 25.Under the terms of the exchange, each side returned 90 prisoners of war, adhering to a "90 on 90" formula. According to Lenta this agreement marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to ease tensions between the two nations amidst the prolonged conflict.

Facilitated by United Arab Emirates

The exchange was facilitated with the support of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) acting as intermediaries. The operation involved the repatriation of 90 Russian military personnel from territories controlled by Ukraine, where they faced imminent danger while in captivity. In return, Ukraine received 90 prisoners of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The released Russian soldiers will be transported to Moscow aboard military transport aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, where they will receive medical treatment and rehabilitation in facilities operated by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Comprehensive medical and psychological assistance will be provided to ensure their recovery and well-being.
