New Zealand took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday (April 29) to announce a 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be played in the West Indies and USA in June. In the players picked for the 20-team megaevent starting on June 1, the Black Caps included star CSK opening batter Devon Conway, who was ruled out of the IPL 2024 due to an injury. Kane Williamson will lead the Kiwis, which have the likes of Trent Boult and Tim Southee in the squad, along with CSK stars Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell and the New Zealand captain for the recently concluded five-match series against Pakistan, Michael Bracewell.
Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi are two other spinners in the New Zealand squad, along with Bracewell, whereas Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry will be part of the pace department along with Boult and Southee. Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Finn Allen, and Mark Chapman are other members of the squad.
In the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup, New Zealand reached the semifinals but suffered defeat in the first knockout match played against Pakistan in Sydney, whereas in the 2021 edition, it went down against Australia in the final played in Dubai.

In the T20 World Cup 2024, New Zealand is part of Group C, where they will face co-hosts the West Indies, Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda. The Kiwis will open their campaign on June 7 against Afghanistan in Guyana and then face the West Indies on June 12 in Trinidad. New Zealand’s T20 World Cup 2024 matches against Uganda and Papua New Guinea are scheduled to take place on June 14 and 17 in Trinidad.
