In a spectacular box office triumph, ‘Fighter,’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, has soared to the top of the list of highest-earning Indian films at the global box office. It is now the film to beat at the worldwide box office, with its impressive collection of Rs 356 crore.

Over its 26-day run at the domestic box office, ‘Fighter’ secured an impressive collection of Rs 207 crore nett. The film continued its successful streak into its twenty-seventh day, adding an early estimated Rs 70 lakh. Despite a modest commencement, overshadowed by last Republic Day’s blockbuster release ‘Pathaan’, ‘Fighter’ steadily gained momentum. Critics and trade analysts, who initially harboured higher expectations, acknowledged the film’s consistent performance, particularly lauding its fourth-weekend earnings of approximately Rs 4.5 crore. The film received a favourable reception in multiplexes, despite facing challenges in mass centres.

‘Fighter’ shattered the Rs 200 crore barrier by its 24th day at the Indian box office. Globally, ‘Fighter’ outpaced its contemporaries, firmly establishing itself as the benchmark for Indian cinema in 2024.

It edged out the Telugu sensation ‘Hanu-Man,’ which garnered Rs 312 crore, and Mahesh Babu’s ‘Guntur Kaaram’ with Rs 267 crore, to clinch the coveted top spot. The romantic comedy ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, and ‘Captain Miller’ also made notable contributions to the year’s cinematic achievements, with collections of Rs112 crore and Rs 104.79 crore, respectively.

As of now, ‘Fighter’ leads the charge in a select group of five Indian films to have crossed the Rs 100 crore threshold at the global box office in 2024. This year’s lineup has also seen notable entries like ‘Ayalaan,’ ‘Eagle,’ ‘Naa Saami Ranga,’ ‘Premalu,’ and ‘Abraham Ozler’.

Deepika will now hope to shatter her record with the release of her next sci-fi drama ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. The film will see the star alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan.
