BJP leaders add ‘Modi ka parivar’ to social media handles, counter Lalu Prasad’s ‘no family’ attack on Prime Minister Modi
NEW DELHI: The BJP leaders on Monday added “Modi ka parivar” to their social media bios, a day after RJD president Lalu Prasad stirred a controversy with his remark “what can we do if Prime Minister Modi does not have a family of his own” to counter PM’s charge of dynasty politics. The Prime Minister also responded to Lalu’s attack and said “Mera Bharat, Mera Parivaar.”
Union home minister Amit Shah, BJP chief JP Nadda and all other leaders and ministers of the BJP added “Modi ka parivar” to their social media bios to express solidarity with the Prime Minister. The BJP also launched a scathing attack on Lalu Prasad and said entire country is PM Modi’s family.
BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “For PM Narendra Modi, the whole country is his family. Ever since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, he celebrates Diwali with soldiers on the border. They are his family. When he left his family to dedicate himself to his country, that very moment he pledged, the whole nation is his family.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi, addressing a rally in Telangana said “140 crore people of this country are my family. Mera Bharat mera parivaar,”(My India is my family).” He further said his “life is like an open book. People of the country know about it. When I left home in my childhood, I left with a dream that I will live for the countrymen.”
‘Modi Ka Parivaar’ campaign revives memories of another such campaign run by the BJP leaders in 2019, when the Congress led by Rahul Gandhi had targeted PM Modi over alleged corruption in defence deals.
The Congress had then mounted a strong poll campaign ‘Chowkidaar chor hai’ to target PM Modi. However, the BJP deflated Congress’ campaign with counter poll slogan ‘Main Bhi Chowkidaar’. All BJP ministers and leaders changed their then Twitter bio with ‘Main Bhi Chowkidaar’ title. The BJP eventually swept the 2019 elections.
