Watch: Faf du Plessis and Pat Cummins’ conversation at toss sparks debate
NEW DELHI: On Monday, a conversation caught on camera between RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and his SRH counterpart Pat Cummins just before the toss for their match in Bengaluru sparked a debate among cricket fans on social media.
Faf’s action depicting the flipping of a coin pointed to an incident that happened last week during the match between MI and RCB at the Wankhede Stadium.
The MI vs RCB toss stirred a controversy when a video circulated on social media showed MI skipper Hardik Pandya tossing the coin over his head, causing it to land behind everyone present.
Match referee Javagal Srinath had to retrieve the coin, prompting speculation on social media about the possible flip of the coin. However, no concrete evidence supported these claims.
Du Plessis reignited the discussion during Monday’s clash between RCB and SRH at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Just before the toss, he shared the incident with Cummins, leaving the SRH skipper visibly surprised.

Despite winning the toss and opting to field first, RCB faced a daunting challenge as SRH’s Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen unleashed a formidable batting display, leading their team to a commanding total of 287/3 in just 20 overs.

Despite Du Plessis’s commendable 62 runs off 28 balls, RCB fell short in their chase, unable to surpass SRH’s imposing total. With that, RCB have now won just one out of their last seven matches in the IPL 2024 season.
