UPSC Civil Services Result 2023: Educational qualification of top 10 CSE toppers

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday announced the results of the civil services examination. This year, Aditya Srivastava and Animesh Pradhan have scored AIR 1 and 2 respectively, followed by Donuru Ananya Reddy at the third spot. Most of the toppers are from reputed educational institutes. Check their educational qualification and institutes’ rankings.

UPSC Topper AIR 1 Aditya Srivastava (IIT-Kanpur)

An alumnus of IIT-Kanpur, Srivastava got the top rank in the UPSC civil services examination with electrical engineering as his optional subject. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, he completed his schooling at CMS Lucknow’s Aliganj branch. From IIT, Aditya pursued a dual degree with BTech and then MTech. The institute ranked fourth in the latest NIRF 2023 ranking.

As reported in the media, he also worked at Goldman Sachs. In an interview with a coaching institute, he explained that for financial security he opted for a job in the corporate sector, however, the opportunity to contribute positively to the system geared him towards the civil services examination.

Before getting the top rank in UPSC, Srivastava ranked 236 in the 2022 UPSC and opted for the Indian Police Service (IPS). Currently, he is undergoing training at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad.

UPSC Topper AIR 2 Animesh Pradhan (NIT-Rourkela)

All India Rank 2, Animesh is a native of Odisha and kept sociology as his optional subject. In his first attempt, Pradhan cleared the civil services examination. He graduated with a BTech in computer science from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. His institute ranked 16 in the latest NIRF 2023 under the engineering category.

He shared his happiness with all his friends and family but missed his mother who last month passed after battling cancer. After completing his graduation, Pradhan worked as a software engineer in a private company.

After completing his graduation, Pradhan worked as a software engineer in a private company.

He is currently working as an Information System Officer with Indian Oil Corporation Limited. Unfortunately, a few years back, the topper also lost his father. Pradhan completed his schooling at Kalinga DAV School. Animesh’s sister is currently working in the Horticulture department.

UPSC Topper AIR 3 Donuru Ananya Reddy (Delhi University)

A graduate in geology from Delhi University’s Miranda House, Ananya Reddy ranked all India rank three in the UPSC- CSE. The college stood at the top place in NIRF rankings. After completing her graduation in 2021, she started preparing for the UPSC examinations in Hyderabad.  She completed her schooling in her district and moved to Hyderabad for higher studies.

When I started looking for career opportunities after completing my graduation, I realised that civil services would provide me with a very unique blend—I can serve my country and I will also have the opportunity of having administrative duties. This blend attracted me towards the UPSC,” she told indianexpress.com.

Hailing from Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district, Reddy opted for anthropology as her optional subject. Despite no coaching guidance, she cleared the examination on her first attempt. Reddy’s father is a small businessman while her mother is a homemaker. Ananya who is also a cricket enthusiast, studied for 12-14 hours a day and did not follow any specific pattern.

UPSC Topper AIR 4 PK Sidharth Ramkumar (University of Kerala)

Hailing from Kerala, Sidharth ranked fourth in the examination. Keeping anthropology as his optional subject in UPSC, he received the best scores in his five attempts. A graduate in Architecture from the University of Kerala, he is undergoing training at IPS Academy in Hyderabad.

He first cracked the examination in 2020, after completing graduation in 2019. In his first attempt, he got 181 rank and was shortlisted for the Indian Post and Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service. In his next attempt, he got the Indian Police Service. Again in his third attempt, the 27-year-old man secured 121 rank.

UPSC Topper AIR 5 Ruhani (Delhi University)

After graduating in Economics from Delhi University’s St Stephen’s College, Ruhani cracked the UPSC examination on her sixth attempt. She completed her post-graduation in the same subject at Indira Gandhi National Open University. She has worked at NITI Aayog for two years as an Indian Economic Service officer. She is currently undergoing training at IPS Academy in Hyderabad.

Bagging all India rank five, she is the daughter of government teachers based in Old Gurugram. In her fifth attempt, she secured 159 rank and decided to opt for the Indian Police Service while also preparing for the Indian Administrative Officer. Her younger sister is working in a private firm as a software engineer.

UPSC Topper AIR 6 Srishti Dabas (Delhi University)

Hailing from Delhi, Srishti completed her graduation and post-graduation in political science. She is currently working with the Reserve Bank of India in its Mumbai office as a human resource officer. She has also worked with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Her father also served as the assistant sub-inspector in Delhi Police. In her first attempt, Dabas secured a rank in the top 10 list of UPSC candidates.

UPSC Topper AIR 7 Anmol Rathore (NLU)

Cracking the examination in her third attempt, Anmol based in Jammu and Kashmir completed her graduation from Gujarat’s National Law University. She also kept the law as her optional subject. The Kishtwar girl also topped the JKAS examination last year. She is undergoing training as a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS).

UPSC Topper AIR 8 Ashish Kumar (IIT-Kharagpur)

Having a dual degree from the Indian Institute of Technology from Kharagpur, Kumar opted for sociology as his optional subject. He cleared the examination on his fifth attempt. He considers cooking as one of his strengths.

UPSC Topper AIR 9 Nausheen (Delhi University)

Keeping history as optional subject, Nausheen cleared UPSC CSE on her fourth attempt. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur, Nausheen is an alumna of Delhi University’s Khalsa College. Nausheen’s father is a director at the Prasar Bharti and his mother is a homemaker. Her elder brother and sister work at public sector undertakings.

After completing graduation in 2019, Nausheen appeared for the civil services examinations in 2020 and 2021 and cleared prelims and mains. She could not clear the 2022 prelims. “I would have taken a gap if I had failed to crack the exam this year too. I would have attempted next year,” she said to Indian Express.

This DU student relied on coaching material in her initial attempts. This time she decided to prepare with the help of newspapers.

UPSC topper AIR 10 Aishwaryam Prajapati (NIT)

After graduating with a BTech from the National Institute of Technology in Uttarakhand, Prajapati cracked the examination on her second attempt. Hailing to Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, she opted for sociology as her optional subject.  She completed her schooling at Rani Lakshmibai Senior Secondary School.
