BTS have set yet another massive record! The global icons have become the first K-pop act to surpass 1.8 billion streams/views on both Spotify and YouTube with Dynamite.

BTS dethrones Blackpink to set new record with Dynamite

On February 23 at around 3:06 AM KST, BTS’ 2020 track Dynamite surpassed 1.8 billion views on YouTube. Around the same time, the hit song also crossed the same number of streams on Spotify, making it the first K-pop song to surpass 1.8 billion views/streams on both the music streaming apps.

Furthermore, Dynamite is also the fastest K-pop track to cross 1.8 billion views on YouTube. Released on August 21, 2020, Dynamite’s music video took 3 years, 6 months, 1 day, and 14 hours to reach the 1.8 billion views milestone. For the unversed, the previous record for the fastest K-pop group music video to surpass 1.8 billion views was held by Blackpink’s DDU-DU DDU-DU, which achieved the milestone in approximately 3 years, 7 months, and 16 days.

BTS complete mandatory military service

All seven BTS members are currently completing their mandatory military service. While Jin and J-hope are drill instructors, Suga is serving as a social service agent. RM is completing his service at the 15th Infantry Division, while V has deployed to the ROK II Corps. Meanwhile, Jimin as well as Jungkook reportedly joined the 5th Infantry Division. The group will reunite as seven by June 2025.
