Baltimore Ravens’ Mark Andrews to miss significant time, placed on Injured Reserve

NEW DELHI: The Baltimore Ravens placed three-time Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. Andrews suffered the injury on November 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals and underwent surgery earlier in the week. The move to injured reserve means Andrews will miss at least four games.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh expressed the possibility of Andrews returning later in the season. Andrews has been a key target for quarterback Lamar Jackson, recording 45 receptions for 544 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games (nine starts) this season.

Mark Andrews had a standout season in 2021, posting career-best numbers with 107 receptions for 1,361 yards and nine touchdowns. Overall, in his career, Andrews has accumulated 381 receptions for 4,857 yards and 40 touchdowns in 87 games, with 42 starts.

In preparation for their Sunday night game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Ravens elevated inside linebacker Josh Ross and safety Andrew Adams from the practice squad. These roster moves are aimed at addressing the absence of Andrews and strengthening the team’s defensive depth.

The Ravens will likely face challenges without Andrews, but the hope is that his potential return later in the season could provide a boost to Baltimore’s offensive capabilities.
