Tamil Nadu: Why PM Modi got emotional during his speech in Salem
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday got emotional during his speech in Salem, Tamil Nadu, as he remembered a BJP member who was killed a decade ago.
Speaking at a large public rally organized by the BJP, the Prime Minister paid tribute to three individuals connected to the district, including the late BJP leader KN Lakshmanan. However, he turned emotional while talking about ‘Auditor’ Ramesh, who was hacked to death.
PM Modi paused his address briefly before highlighting Ramesh’s dedicated work for the party, describing him as a hardworking individual and a skilled speaker.
“I can’t forget Auditor Ramesh. Unfortunately today Ramesh is not among us. Ramesh worked hard for the party, day and night and he was a good orator. But he was killed. Today I pay my tributes to him,” the PM said.
V Ramesh, a respected auditor and state general secretary based in Salem, was attacked in his home in July 2013.
The Prime Minister also honored the late Lakshmanan for his significant contributions to the party’s development in Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, during his address, the Prime Minister accused the INDIA bloc leaders of “deliberately insulting” Hindu dharma and said that the opposition’s leader’s every statement against the religion is very “well thought out.”
“The INDI Alliance people repeatedly and deliberately insult Hinduism. Notably, every statement they make against the Hindu religion is very well thought out! The INDI Alliance of DMK and Congress does not insult any other religion. It does not utter a single word against any other religion. However, when it comes to the Hindu religion, they don’t leave any chance to abuse and insult it,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi said that the people are enthusiastic about the BJP, and this has been troubling the INDI Alliance.
