They don’t call him the Christian Bale of Bollywood for nothing. Randeep Hooda, who is riding high on the success of his directorial debut Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, had literally given it his all just to see his dream come to fruition. In a recent interview, the actor revealed how he had ‘let go’ of two to three properties his father had bought for him in Mumbai to fund the film.

“I wanted to release this film on August 15 last year, then on January 26. I put everything into it. It didn’t happen… We had difficulties, because the team that was initially attached to the project, those people didn’t have the intention to make a quality film. They just wanted to make a film. We had financial difficulties. My father had saved up and bought two or three properties for me in Mumbai, I let go of them and put the money into the movie. I couldn’t stop. This film didn’t have anybody’s support,” Randeep Hooda told a publication.

Talking about his much-hyped body transformation in the film, Randeep revealed that he would survive on “water, black coffee and green tea” to bring his weight down to 60 kgs. He said, “I would have only water, black coffee and green tea… Then I added chilla to my diet, some dark chocolate and nuts… I began to lose sleep, I fell down a couple of times on set.”

Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, also starring Ankita Lokhande and Amit Sial, is now in theatres.
