Yash opened up about co-producing Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi starrer Ramayana.
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has been grabbing headlines ahead of its formal announcement. The multi-starrer magnum opus that went on the floors earlier this month is dubbed as one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema. While it would star Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, the makers have brought KGF star Yash on board as Raavan. Besides acting in the film, Yash will also be co-producing the ambitious project.
While speaking with Variety, Yash revealed, “It has been my long-term aspiration to make films that will showcase Indian cinema on a global level. In pursuit of that, I was in L.A. to ally with one of the best VFX studios, and to my amazement, the driving force behind it was a fellow Indian. Namit and I had various ideation sessions, and coincidentally, our synergy on the vision for Indian cinema aligned perfectly. We brainstormed various projects, and during these discussions, the subject of ‘Ramayana’ came up. Namit had a part of it in the works.”
He continued, “The ‘Ramayana,’ as a subject, deeply resonates with me and I had an approach in my mind for it. By joining forces to co-produce ‘Ramayana’ we are bringing together our collective vision and experience to create an Indian film that will ignite excitement and passion in audiences across the world.”
Yash expressed that the ‘Ramayana’ is deeply intertwined with our essence. Despite our presumed familiarity, every engagement reveals new insights, sparks fresh understanding, and brings forth distinct viewpoints, “Ramayana’ is woven into the fabric of our lives. We believe we know it well, yet each encounter unveils fresh wisdom, ignites new knowledge, and offers unique perspectives. Our vision is to translate this timeless epic onto the silver screen in a grand spectacle, honoring its scale. But at its core, it will be an honest and faithful portrayal of the story, the emotions, and the enduring values we hold so dear. This is a journey to share the ‘Ramayana’ with the world, a testament to our commitment to creative exploration, bold visions and honest storytelling,” the actor explained.
Nitesh Tiwari has started shooting for Ramayana and recently the first set of videos surfaced on social media. Actress Akruti Singh took to her Instagram stories and shared a video from the film’s grand Ayodhya set in Mumbai. Later, photos of Lara Dutta and Arun Govil from the sets have been leaked.
Following the leak, director Nitesh Tiwari has taken a drastic step to combat these measures. According to a report by India Today, director Nitesh Tiwari is quite upset with the leak and thus, a “strict no-phone policy has been imposed on the set”. The director has also mandated that extra staff and crew be off the set when the shooting begins. As per the report, only required actors and technicians can be on set.
