Popular Tamil film producer and politician RM Veerappan passed away yesterday. The 97 year old senior Dravidian leader and film maker, who died in a private hospital in Chennai yesterday was cremated at the Nungambakkam cremation ground with State honours.
Tamil Nadu Cheif Minister MK Stalin paid his final respects to the senior Dravidian leader at the hospital beofre he was taken to his Thirumalai Pillai road residence. The funeral rites were done in Nungambakkam cremation ground by 4 pm with State honours.
Veerappan, who was late Tamil Nadu chief minister MG Ramachandran’s friend and mentor, was admitted to hospital on Sunday. He breathed his last on Tuesday. The veteran politician is known in the Tamil film fraternity for producing films starring MG Ramachandran, like Kaavalkaaran, Rickshwakaran, Idhayakani. He had also produced films starring Rajinikanth, which inlcude Moondru Mugam, Thanga Magan, Panakkaran and Baasha among a few others. With Kamal Haasan, he had made films Kaaki Sattai and Kadhal Parisu.
