Former Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi dies of cardiac arrest
NEW DELHI: The former chief minister of Maharashtra and ex-Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi on Thursday underwent a cardiac arrest and was subsequently hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at P D Hinduja hospital in Mumbai.
86 year old, Joshi passed away at approximately 3 am on Friday due to age-related health complications.
The news was confirmed by Joy Chakravarty, the Chief Operating Officer of P D Hinduja Hospital.
Joshi’s health has been precarious since May 2023 when he suffered a brain hemorrhage, prompting his admission to the ICU at Hinduja Hospital. After spending a few days in a semi-conscious state with little hope of significant recovery, he was advised to return to his Shivaji Park home for ongoing care.
