Mumbai Indians were up against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match No. 8 of the IPL 2024 on Wednesday (March 27). In a high-scoring fixture played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the Sunrisers got the better of the Mumbai Indians by 31 runs. Thanks to the three fifties, SRH created history on Wednesday by posting the highest total in IPL history. The Orange Army batters took MI bowlers to cleaners and amassed a total of 277 runs for the loss of three wickets. During the match between SRH and MI, former Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma was seen taking charge of field placements on various occasions.

And in one of the videos going viral on the internet, he can be seen asking Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik to move from his position and field near the boundary line. The clip of Rohit instructing Hardik to change his fielding position has set the internet on fire.

During MI’s first match of IPL 2024, Hardik instructed Rohit to field near the boundary ropes, which took him by surprise. That video went viral on the internet, and Hardik was criticised by fans on social media for not showing respect for his senior cricketer.

Back-to-back defeats for MI

After losing their opening match against the Gujarat Titans by six runs in Ahmedabad on March 24, MI was expected to make a comeback during the second match against SRH, but they failed to produce the desired result and went down again. For the Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah was the only bowler who conceded less than 10 runs per over against SRH.

In the batting, Rohit (26) and Ishan Kishan (34) gave the Mumbai Indians a flying start, which was capitalised by Tilak Varma (64) and Naman Dhir (30), but Hardik Pandya (24 off 20 balls) and Tim David (42 from 22 balls) failed to provide the finishing touch.

The Mumbai Indians next match in IPL 2024 is against the Rajasthan Royals on April 1, and it will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
