Rajinikanth looks fierce in new poster of ‘Thalaivar 171’, title reveal in April

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj shared an update about the title announcement of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, ‘Thalaivar 171’. Sharing a brand-new poster of Rajinikanth from the much-awaited film, Lokesh announced that the title teaser of the movie will be officially shared on April 22, 2024.Â

On Thursday, March 28, Lokesh Kanagaraj shared a striking poster of Rajinikanth from the film on his official social media handle. Alongside the poster, he wrote, “#Thalaivar171TitleReveal on April 22 (sic).”Â

In the poster, Rajinikanth is seen in a rugged yet stylish appearance, with handcuffs made of golden wristwatches, set against a backdrop of mechanical parts.

Meanwhile, in an interview, the ‘Leo’ director spoke about the film and said that the ‘pre-production work is still going on’. He added, “The film will go on floors in June. The entire process will take around one to one-and-a-half years. One month after the completion of ‘Thalaivar 171’, we will begin ‘Kaithi 2’ with Karthi. So, the work has been going on.”Â

Tentatively titled ‘Thalaivar 171’, the film marks the first collaboration of Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth. Produced on a massive scale by Sun Pictures, the film was launched in September 2023.Â

Reports suggest that Sivakarthikeyan will play a role in the film. However, an official update regarding the cast and crew will be announced in the coming months. Composer Anirudh Ravichander and stunt director duo Anbariv are part of the crew.
