Qatar Airways launches first AI flight attendant Sama 2.0

Imagine stepping onto a plane and being greeted not by a human flight attendant, but by a virtual one. Qatar Airways calls her Sama 2.0, and she’s not just any digital character – she’s the world’s first AI-powered digital human cabin crew. Named after the Arabic word for ‘sky,’ Sama made her debut at the Qatar Airways stand in ITB Berlin.  AI powered digital crew has been developed in collaboration with UneeQ. Sama is all set to revolutionize the way we experience air travel. Qatar Airways is the first airline company to come up with an AI crew.

So, what can Sama do? Well, equipped with top-notch conversational AI, she’s like a walking encyclopedia for Qatar Airways. Sama interacts with passengers in real-time, providing answers to queries ranging from FAQs to destination information. The digital flight attendant is accessible through Qatar Airways’ immersive digital platform, QVerse, and their mobile app.

Babar Rahman, Qatar Airways Vice President Marketing, expressed the airline’s commitment to innovation, stating that Sama 2.0 represents their dedication to exceptional service and hospitality. He emphasized the significance of merging technology with human connection, setting a new standard in the aviation industry.

At the Web Summit Qatar, they introduced their Generative AI experience. This cool tool uses pictures and a 3D map to learn what you like, so you don’t have to spend time searching for flights yourself. It then suggests awesome travel ideas tailored just for you, from their huge list of over 170 destinations.
