The Yerawada Metro Station in Pune is scheduled to be operational by May 2024, as per the statement provided by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).

The confirmation on the same was shared by Maharashtra Metro officials on April 16, who also stated that the metro station’s entry and exit points are almost finished.

Reportedly, the end of April has been chosen as the deadline since at that point the construction will receive a thorough completion and the entry and exit points will be adjusted.

According to a Maharashtra Metro official, the work will be finished by the end of April, and in early May, the CMRS team will be invited to verify and approve the metro station. They won’t open the metro station to the public until they have received approval from the CMRS authorities to guarantee that safety is upheld and all protocols are followed accurately, as reported by My Pune Pulse.

Previously, when the entry and departure points were built, Yerawada locals expressed their dissatisfaction with the project. They filed a complaint with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) after discovering it to be defective and hazardous. Due to this, the PMC decided to take action and proposed rebuilding the metro station’s entrance and exit.

In addition, the Maharashtra Metro asked permission from the Pune Railway Authorities to build a ticket kiosk at Platform Number One’s entrance. A self-service electronic ticket dispenser that uses an automated system to handle ticket sales is called a ticket kiosk. Compared to typical live ticket counters, it is simpler and more efficient.

In February, the Pune Metro authorities successfully executed a trial run in an approximately 3.64 km section between Civil Court Underground Station and Swargate UG Station. After all of the tests were finished, the trial run commenced on schedule.

It began at the Civil Court UG station at a speed of less than 10 kmph (averaging 7.5 kmph), then continued via the Mutha riverbed, Budhwar Peth, Mandai, and ultimately reached the Swargate UG metro station. It passed beneath the Mutha riverbed on its way from Civil Court to Swargate.

Crossing the Mutha riverbed represents an important milestone for the Pune Metro. Once operational, this network from Civil Court to Swargate would connect the city’s centre area, providing inhabitants with a rapid and safe urban transport choice.
