NEW DELHI: A man from Texas has officially altered his name to Literally Anybody Else and put forth his candidacy for the US presidency in the upcoming 2024 election.
According to the Guardian report, man formerly identified as Dustin Ebey, a 35-year-old former US army serviceman and middle school math teacher in the Dallas suburbs, now possesses a Texas driver’s license reflecting his name change.
Expressing discontent with the current presidential contenders, Joe Biden and Donald Trump, Literally Anybody Else believes that the American population of 300 million deserves better options.
In an interview with Texas TV station WFAA, he said, “there really should be some outlet for people like me who are just so fed up with this constant power grab between the two parties that just has no benefit to the common person. It’s not necessarily about me as a person, but it’s about literally anybody else as an idea.”
Seeking 113,000 signatures from non-primary voters in Texas by May to include his new name on the ballots, he plans to encourage people to write in his name as an alternative. According to the candidate, the absence of a ‘neither’ option on the ballot necessitates such a move. His campaign website defines Literally Anybody Else as a symbol rather than an individual, denouncing the prioritization of party loyalty over governance by political parties. The newly created website states, “for too long have Americans been a victim of its political parties putting party loyalty over governance. Together let’s send the message to Washington and say, “You will represent or be replaced.””
