‘politically suicidal to name rahul gandhi as pm face’: smriti irani slams congress for taking ‘elections for granted’
Smriti Irani, Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) pick from Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi, in an exclusive interview with Times Now, launched an attack at the Congress for “taking things for granted as they have not announced candidates for Rae Bareli and Amethi” where elections is just 25 days away.
Slamming Congress’ decision-making power, Smriti Irani said, “Congress party has taken things fr granted in Raebareili and Amethi so much that they have not announced candidates where your elections are just 25 days away. Look at what they did in the western UP in the first phase, they went and did a press conference on the last day of the campaign.”
“Do they think that just by Rahul Gandhi sitting in the press conference and saying “Arey tum BJP ke reporter Ho” they will win elections?”Smriti Irani asked.
“Where did Mrs Vadra (Priyanka Vadra) go and campaign? She went and campaigned for a Congress candidate who said “Modi Ki Toh Mai Boti Boti Kar Dunga”? So look at their choices, look at their political strategies. Look at what their own partners are saying about them,” Smriti Irani said.
“Look at what Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said about his so-called alliance partner Rahul Gandhi: ‘Whenever in this country there is an issue of importance that needs to be discussed. Rahul Gandhi disappears’. So, why blame the BJP”, the Union Minister said.
Speakign about the second phase of elections which is on Friday, April 26, Smriti Irani said, “The second phase is just 2 days away, and the country does not know who is the PM face of I.N.D.I.A alliance. Do they (I.N.D.I.A alliance) have the guts to declare RaGa as their PM candidate?”
“That’s politically suicidal to name Rahul Gandhi or Mrs Vadra as their prime ministerial candidate,” Smriti Irani said.
Meanwhile, answering “Who is contesting against you in Amethi?” Smriti Iranis said, “Jija ho ya saala Amethi mein har voter hain Modi ka matwala.”
