OnePlus Pad 2 is tipped to launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip

The OnePlus Pad 2 was recently tipped to launch in the coming months and the leaks for the next-gen have now started appearing online. The company’s first-ever tablet – the OnePlus Pad – received quite a good response, and it seems that OnePlus is now planning to launch another version soon to give users a better option in the tablet space.

Tipster Max Jambor, who previously claimed that the OnePlus Pad 2 will arrive in the second half of 2024, has now revealed that the second-gen tablet will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This is a flagship chip, which is currently powering several flagship phones in the market. Samsung is also expected to unveil its latest Galaxy Tab S10 series later this year, which could use the same high-end chip under the hood.

The rest of the details regarding specs are still unknown. We expect the new OnePlus tablet to offer a brighter display, a slightly bigger battery, a higher storage solution and more. As mentioned above, OnePlus will likely upgrade its tablet with a high-end flagship chip. We may see an AMOLED screen instead of the LCD panel seen in the previous version. But, with these upgrades, the prices could also go up.

The upcoming OnePlus Pad 2 could be a rebranded version of the Oppo Pad 3, which is yet to be released in China. But, why are we saying this? Well, the OnePlus Pad was a rebadged version of the Oppo Pad 2. Hence, there are chances that the same could happen with the next OnePlus tab as well. The Oppo tab is also tipped to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which hints that this could actually come to other regions as the OnePlus Pad. Tipster Digital Chat Station recently reported that the launch of the Oppo tablet has been delayed, and it could make its debut later this year.

To recall, the first-gen OnePlus Pad was launched in India with a starting price of Rs 37,999. The device features an 11.6-inch LCD display, which offers a 144Hz refresh rate, Full-HD+ resolution, and 500nits brightness. The tablet draws power from MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9000 SoC, and a 9,510mAh battery with support for 65W SuperVOOC charging.
