Earlier last month, Indian food delivery platform Swiggy has partnered with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to bring a delightful culinary experience to train passengers. This collaboration will allow travellers to pre-order meals from Swiggy’s extensive restaurant network and have them delivered directly to their seats, starting with major cities like Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada.
This partnership addresses a common pain point for train travellers – limited food options, especially on long journeys. Through this integration, passengers can now savour a wider variety of fresh, high-quality meals delivered right to their berths, making their journeys more convenient and enjoyable.
How to Order Food on Trains with Swiggy?
Ordering food on the train is a simple process. Passengers can pre-order meals through the IRCTC app by entering their PNR number, selecting their preferred station for delivery, and browsing through a curated list of restaurants available at that location and time. Once they’ve chosen their desired meal, the food will be delivered to them in insulated Swiggy bags to ensure it arrives warm and fresh.
To ensure a smooth experience, Swiggy has taken several steps. Delivery partners will arrive at the designated platform well before the delivery time, and dedicated support agents will be trained to handle any issues, answer questions about Swiggy’s policies, and connect with restaurants and delivery partners as needed. This comprehensive approach aims to provide passengers with a seamless and hassle-free food ordering experience.
With this partnership, Swiggy and IRCTC are set to revolutionise the way passengers experience train travel in India. The ability to order a wider variety of fresh and delicious meals directly to their seats will undoubtedly enhance passenger comfort and satisfaction, making train journeys more enjoyable and convenient for everyone.
