azerbaijan planning ‘full scale war’ against armenia? what president ilham aliyev said
A day after Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev promised to continue a peace process in his inauguration speech, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan alleged that Baku is planning a ‘full scale war’ against them. Tensions between the two neighbors have remained high since Azerbaijan re-captured the Nagorno-Karabakh region last September and escalated military offensive.
Pashinyan, as per local media, alleged that Azerbaijan wants to launch military action in some parts of the border.
“Our analysis shows that Azerbaijan wants to launch military action in some parts of the border with the prospect of turning military escalation into a full-scale war against Armenia,” Pashinyan said at a government meeting, according to several reports. “This intention can be read in all statements and actions of Azerbaijan,” he added.

According to the report, Armenia is concerned that Azerbaijan could ride high on its ‘success’ in Karabakh and invade their territory to create a land bridge to its exclave of Nakhchivan.
Ilham Aliyev won re-election recently. In his inauguration speech on Wednesday, the Azerbaijan president said it was Armenia that had outstanding territorial claims.
“We do not need a mediator in this matter. I have said this before and I want to say it again from this lectern. We have resolved our problem. We have initiated the signing of a peace agreement with Armenia. We were the author of the five well-known principles. We also wrote the text of the peace agreement and sent it to the Armenian side,” Aliyev said in his inauguration speech.
