‘NDA leading 2-0′: PM Modi’s football analogy after two phases of polls

In a heightened attack on the Opposition INDIA bloc, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that it was the BJP-NDA combine leading 2-0 after the voting for the first two phases of the Lok Sabha polls was over.

“Kolhapur is called the football hub of Maharashtra. Football is very popular among the local youth here. If I speak to you in football terminology, yesterday after the completion of the second phase, BJP-NDA is leading 2-0,” PM Modi said at an election rally in the city.

PM Modi said that the INDIA bloc has already committed two “self-goals”, of “anti-nationalism” and “politics of hatred”.

The Prime Minister did not fall short of alleging once again that the INDIA bloc members have resorted to the practice of anti-national and appeasement politics.

“The DMK, which is very special to Congress, is abusing Sanatana. They called the Sanatana Dharma dengue and malaria. And, INDI Alliance invites them to Maharashtra and honours those who speak of destroying Sanatana. Bala Saheb (Thackeray) must have been very upset with this,” the PM added.

He called it a fake Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), who is “walking shoulder-to-shoulder with DMK people”.

Advancing his criticism of the INDIA bloc-Maha Vikas Aghadi further, PM Modi stated that the alliance is so obsessed with vote-bank politics that they have allied with followers of Aurangzeb, the 17th-century Mughal emperor..

PM Modi also lashed out at the Opposition parties for promising to revoke the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) if voted to power.Â

The Prime Minister also lambasted the opposition parties for refusing to attend the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony on January 22 this year, despite several invitations.

“They forgot everything and went to the Congress doors to invite them (for consecration), but they rejected that too. What will you do with someone who rejects Ram?” PM Modi asked the crowd.

In the latest attack on the ‘wealth redistribution’ clause in the Congress poll manifesto, Prime Minister Modi reiterated “The party that has always disrespected Babasaheb, (Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar) are now planning to rob the Dalits and the deprived of their reservation.”

PM Modi went on to add that the INDIA bloc-MVA have only one agenda that is – “Form government, earn money”.

Regarding his government’s initiatives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reminded the large gathering at a rally that the Centre had established a separate Ministry of Cooperation and initiated a movement for the empowerment of women through Self-Help Groups.
