Indian batter Tanmay Agarwal made history during the ongoing 2023–2024 Ranji Trophy clash between Hyderabad and Arunachal Pradesh at the NFC Cricket Ground in Secunderabad by breaking a plethora of records. At the end of play on Day 2, Tanmay was unbeaten on the crease, having made 323 runs in just 160 balls.
After Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bowl first, Arunachal Pradesh were dismissed for just 172. Later, Hyderabad put on a show to remember with the bat in the remaining part of the day as they put up a massive score of 529/1 in just 48 before stumps on the first day.
Tanmay was the destroyer in chief with a triple century, which saw him create a world record. He is the first Indian batter in the history of the sport to score a triple ton in just one day. In fact, Tanmay’s knock saw him break the world record for the fastest triple hundred in the rich history of first-class cricket. The Hyderabad batter reached the milestone in just 149 balls.

Earlier, Tanmay broke legendary Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri’s 39-year-old record to score the fastest double ton by an Indian player. Tanmay reached the milestone with just 119 balls. Shastri had hit a double ton in 123 balls in a clash between Mumbai and Baroda in 1984/85.
Tanmay’s knock has included a stunning tally of 33 boundaries and 21 sixes. The 28-year-old put up a 449-run opening partnership with skipper Rahul Singh, who made 185 runs in just 105 balls.
Who is Tanmay Agarwal?
Tanmay has been part of the Hyderabad set-up for almost a decade having made his first-class debut in 2014. He has played 55 games in red-ball cricket in which he has 3533 runs at an average of 38.82 with 11 centuries. Tanmay Agarwal was part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) came from 2017 to 2019 but never played a match in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
