Director Chandoo Mondeti’s patriotic action film ‘Thandel’, which stars Tollywood star Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in the leading roles, The actor Premam will be playing a part that he has never played before.

In a recent interaction with ZigWheels, Chaitanya shared insights into the film’s inspiration, revealing that it draws from real-life events that occurred in 2018. The actor expressed his excitement about portraying a character and story unlike any he has attempted before.

‘Thandel’ is based on the rugged experiences of fishermen from Srikakulam who found themselves accidentally drifting into Pakistani waters during a routine fishing trip. Chaitanya, who plays the lead role, explained that the movie follows their rigorous one-and-a-half-year detention and their eventual return to India. He emphasized that it’s an inspirational and courageous story.

Having spent time with the real-life fishermen, Chaitanya gained firsthand insights into their struggles, which further fueled his passion for the project. He praised the bravery of the fishermen’s partner, who was crucial in their rescue, and emphasized the story’s connected love story.

The film’s teaser, which was released in January, gave fans a sneak peek of Chaitanya’s remarkable performance and established the mood for the gripping story. The film’s themes of duty, love, and sacrifice are hinted at in the tagline, “The one who anchors his crew, his love, and his people; and won’t care to sacrifice his life.”

‘Thandel’ boasts a stellar technical team, with composer Devi Sri Prasad handling the music, Shamdat behind the camera, and Navin Nooli in charge of editing.

Recently, the ‘Thandel’ filmmakers released stills from the sets that show the actors and crew interacting with each other, working on the movie, and enjoying themselves.
