Lucknow: Jailed gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari died at the Banda Medical College in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday night after a cardiac arrest. In the evening Ansari was taken to the hospital from the Banda district jail after his health deteriorated.
After Ansari’s death, a heavy police deployment was made outside his residence. Section 144 was also imposed in Uttar Pradesh. Security has been tightened in Mau. Notably, Ansari elected as the member of tehe Legislative Assembly five times from the Mau seat.
Heavy Police deployment in Mau:
Prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which bars large gatherings, were imposed across Uttar Pradesh following Ansari’s death, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Prashant Kumar said as reported by PTI.
Police deployment has also been made in Banda, Varanasi and Ghazipur districts. An emergency meeting has been called at UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence.
According to reports, Ansari had observed fasting during the holy month of Ramdan. According to reports, he had a word with his son at around 3:30 pm.
