royal challengers bangalore rcb ipl 2024 preview swot analysis and playing 11 prediction
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) begin their campaign in the very first game of the IPL 2024 as they begin their campaign on March 22 in a high-voltage match against the Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. RCB are considered the eternal underachievers in IPL history. Having always boasted of a star studded squad, they are just one of four active teams to have never won the tournament. This is despite the fact, that they have reached the final thrice. RCB fans would be hoping that they finally get to see their team lift the IPL trophy for the first time ever.
Let’s take a quick preview of the team as the first match of the IPL 2024 draws close.
Strength:
RCB head into IPL 2024 with a solid batting order. They have one of the best opening combinations in IPL 2024, with captain Faf du Plessis getting the innings started with none other than Virat Kohli. They would then have a solid middle order with he likes of Rajat Patidar followed by the big hitting Australian duo of Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green.
Cameron Green was brought into the side in the IPL 2024 trade window for Rs 17.5 crore, and he can even open the batting, with Kohli slotting in at no.3
Weakness:
RCB have a pretty underwhelming bowling attack. Coming into the auction, they released some big names in their bowling lineup like Josh Hazlewood, Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga. However, they did not strengthen their bowling attack at all, as they bought Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Lockie Ferguson and Tom Curran. While all fast bowlers are good, they have a tendency to leak runs in the shortest form of the game.
Mohammed Siraj will be the leading Indian pacer in the lineup, but he too has a tendency to leak runs. RCB have a pretty ordinary spin attack with Karn Sharma being the only recognizable spinner in the lineup.
Opportunity:
There have been reports that Virat Kohli might not be selected for the T20 World Cup 2024 as he has not adapted to the fast style of the game. With a grand season in IPL 2024, he can put all rumours to rest and solidify a place in the lineup.
Threat:
While Royal Challengers Bangalore have a strong top order in IPL 2024, their lower order does not look strong. Dinesh Karthik, who will be playing his last season, will be their assigned finisher. However, he has not been consistent with the bat.
RCB Predicted Playing XI For IPL 2024:
