Mallikarjun Kharge seeks PM Modi’s appointment to ‘educate him’ about Congress’ manifesto
NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday sought an appointment with Prime Minister Modi to ‘educate him’ about party’s manifesto after he suggested that Congress would redistribute people’s wealth to Muslims if it comes to power.
The development comes a day after PM Modi alleged that Congress is planning to give people’ hard-earned money and gold of our women to ‘infiltrators’ and ‘those who have more children,’ and cited former PM Manmohan Singh’s remark that the minority community had the first claim on the country’s resources.
“Earlier, when they (the Congress) were in power, they had said Muslims have the first right to the wealth of the nation. This means they will distribute this wealth to those who have more children, to infiltrators. Should your hard-earned money be given to infiltrators? Do you agree to this?” he said. “Congress’s manifesto says they will take stock of the gold mothers and daughters have, and will distribute that wealth. Manmohan Singh’s government had said Muslims have the first right to wealth. Brothers and sisters, this Urban Naxal thinking will not spare even the mangal sutras of my mothers and sisters),” the PM added.
Soon after the speech the opposition objected PM Modi’s remarks and accused him of trying to ‘divert from real-issues’ and being ‘disillusioned.’
Kharge said, “Is giving Rs 1 lakh annually to every woman a program of Muslim League? Giving jobs to the youth, giving them training and giving them Rs 1 lakh for training, is it a program of the Muslim League? We have given 25 guarantees for everyone. It is for the poor, it is for women, it is for the youth, it is for the Dalits, we have given it for everyone.”
“A person who loses courage and has no issue to talk about comes up with such things. If he has his own concrete issues, concrete work then he can tell, as we have told about NREGA, food security…He has nothing to say and he always criticizes Congress, opposition and nowadays he is saying that there is nothing in the INDIA alliance, there is no leader,” he added.
Meanwhile, AICC general secretary in-charge of organisation K C Venugopal also took a jibe at PM Modi and said, “Faced with the growing popularity of INC’s revolutionary manifesto, the PM is resorting to propaganda out of desperation.”
“This is his default of spreading lies and fooling people by misrepresenting facts and spreading Hindu-Muslim narratives. People are sick and tired of this now, as he uses these dangerous narratives to hide his monumental failures as PM,” he added.
Moreover, Congress will also approach the Election Commission to demand strict action against over PM Modi’s controversial remark.
