The Daisy dabba has landed in London inspired by the iconic dabbawalas of Mumbai. Startups are now delivering homestyle and wholesome different services to London working population. While the original dabbawalas from Bombay are a known face in the UK having been invited to King Charles coronation and met Queen Elizabeth Two in the past, Concept fired from the bottle of fresh on the streets of London. One of the many stories of upcoming Tiffin trends is that of a mom duo that has started a reimagined version of the Mumbai Tiffin service. On the lookout for investors, they are in a bid to provide quality local food in an ethical and sustainable fashion. True to the number, with weekly menus inspired from different regions and collaborations with chefs, they’re taking over London one dabba at a time. Anshu, a former TV producer in London and originally from Mumbai, left her job to start the food delivery platform. She was soon joined by her neighbour turned first customer, Renee, who loved the idea of using reusable dabbas and saving on tonnes of plastic waste. Now reportedly valued at £2.5 million, the subscription service is expanding their menu, aiming at dropping dabbas globally from graduate students to IT professionals. The charm of home cooked food starting at 4 lbs is alluring to not only daisies but many others. Many pilot projects also aim at making Indian cuisine palatable to all nationalities, and some cater to specific universities. In a first, budding entrepreneurs are leaving jobs to take the plunge into providing gharkhana via dhaba services and spicing up the lunch times of homesick Indians. Tiffin Planet Tiffin Express, Annapoonas Tiffin Tin Tiffin Stash Tiffin Tiger and Jalarams Gujarati Tiffin are just a few examples of popular favorites in the UK. What do you think of this idea?
