Ranveer Singh to star in Prasanth Varma’s period film ‘Rakshas’: Report

Director Prasanth Varma, known for ‘HanuMan’, and Ranveer Singh are reportedly discussing a big-budget period film based on Indian mythology. They are in talks with various studios to finalise the funding, and an official announcement is expected soon. Recently, it was revealed that they have partnered with Mythri for production, marking the beginning of their collaboration on the project.

According to a pinkvilla report, this film is titled Rakshas and is part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe, where the director plans to introduce several characters before bringing them all together in the finale. Ranveer is blown away by the vision and long-term plans that his director has for the universe and is excited to embark on the journey of Rakshas soon. The report further stated that Ranveer has met Prasanth Varma and team multiple times over the last few weeks and even performed a Pooja for the film on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Hyderabad.

Rakshas will be set in the pre-Independence era with a mythological backdrop, featuring Ranveer Singh in a character with grey shades. Apart from Rakshas, Ranveer is also involved in a project with ‘URI’ director, Aditya Dhar, which is currently in the pre-production phase, while he also has ‘Don 3’ in the pipeline.
