Tata Nexon EV facelift vs Mahindra XUV400 vs MG ZS EV: Price comparison

Tata Motors recently slashed prices of the Nexon EV facelift by up to Rs 1.20 lakh, resulting in a new starting price of Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom). About a few months ago, MG had also cut prices of its ZS EV by up to Rs 2.30 lakh and introduced the new base Executive variants at Rs 18.98 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, the gap between the prices of the Nexon EV, ZS EV, and XUV400 (which received new variants last month) has narrowed down. Given that we compare variant-wise prices of the three electric SUVs.

Tata Nexon EV facelift vs MG ZS EV vs Mahindra XUV400: Price

The new prices of the Nexon EV range between Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 19.29 lakh (ex-showroom), while the XUV400 has been priced between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 17.69 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata Nexon EV facelift vs MG ZS EV vs Mahindra XUV400: Range, battery, and charging

The Nexon EV facelift comes in two versions: Mid range (MR) and Long range (LR) with a range of 325km and 465km, respectively. The electric motor paired with a 30.2kWh battery makes 129PS, while the power output is rated at 145PS with the larger 40.5kWh unit. Meanwhile, the torque output is identical for both at 215Nm, irrespective of the battery unit. It can be charged with either a 7.2kW AC Type-2 or a 50kW DC CCS2 charging.

Further, the Mahindra XUV400 is equipped with 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh battery packs, providing ranges of 375km and 456km. The electric motor paired with both battery packs generates 150PS and 310Nm of torque. A portable charging cable that comes with the EV can be plugged into any 15A socket, which claims to fully charge the battery in up to 19 hours. In contrast, an AC wall box charger takes up to nine hours, while a DC charger can charge the ZS EV in to 80 per cent in a claimed 60 minutes. The MG ZS EV comes with a 50.3kWh battery pack paired with the most powerful electric motor among the three rivals that delivers 177PS and 280Nm of torque. That said, it gives out an ARAI range of 461km. It supports 7.2kW AC charging and 50kW DC public charging. Claimed charging time for 10-80 per cent is 50 minutes with the 50kWh DC charger. Also read
