‘laaton ke bhoot…’: yuvraj singh’s hilarious praise for srh star abhishek sharma after 16-ball fifty vs mi
Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Abhishek Sharma was in brutal form against SRH. Travis Head set the record for the fastest fifty by an SRH batter in IPL after reaching the milestone in 18 balls, however, the record lasted only a handful of deliveries as Sharma bettered it with a 16-ball fifty. Abhishek Sharma was in a destructive mood and slammed seven sixes and three boundaries en route to a 23-ball 63. After Head and Sharma’s carnage, Heinrich Klaasen also took a toll on MI bowlers and played a swashbuckling inning of 80 in 34 balls, helping SRH post a mammoth 277-3, the highest-ever team total in IPL history.
Meanwhile, former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh was at his witty best as he praised Sharma and Klaasen for remarkable knocks.
“Waah sir Abhishek waah 👏🏻 great innings but what a splendid shot to get out on! Laaton ke bhoot baaton se nahi maante! Special 🩴 waiting for you now @IamAbhiSharma4 Great knock by Klassy #Klaasen! #SRHvMI #IPL2024,” wrote Yuvraj.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma spoke on his scintillating knock and said he wanted to go out and express himself. He also credited the management for allowing players the freedom to play their natural game.
“To be honest I didn’t realise that it was the fastest fifty for SRH and for this year. I just wanted to go and express myself and after getting out I realised that it was the quickest. I enjoyed it,” said ‘Man of the Match’ Sharma.
“I was batting with Travis and he is one of my favourite batters. I really enjoyed batting with him,” Sharma said.
“I think the message was pretty much simple for all the batters in the meeting we had before this match. ‘Everyone just go and express yourself’. That’s a very positive message if you get it from your captain and coach. That’s really supportive for all the batters,” he added.
Despite posting a mammoth score, it was not a cakewalk for SRH as MI put the team under pressure quite a few times in the chase. In fact, MI needed just 127 runs in the last nine overs which was very much achievable given how things had gone in the match. However, SRH held their nerves to win the game by 31 runs.
“When Tilak Varma, Hardik bhai and even Tim David were batting, we were still a bit, I won’t say worried but concerned. The way they were playing it was very good but we knew our bowlers were very much prepared for this kind of situation and they executed really well,” Sharma said.
