Many NC leaders in Jammu join BJP
JAMMU: A senior National Congress leader, a former J&K MLC and dozens of Pahari activists joined BJP in Jammu Saturday.
Prominent among them is Syed Mohd Rafiq Shah. In 2019, he had joined National Conference in 2019 after snapping ties with National Panthers Party. Pahari leader Mohd Ayub Pahalwan has also joined BJP along with his supporters.
“I decided to join BJP due to PM Modi’s efforts to bring development, peace and provide justice to the deprived sections of society,” Shah said.
Welcoming them into the party, BJP J&K chief Ravinder Raina said, “The Modi govt takes effective steps to ensure that development plans include every section of society.”
Earlier this month, many prominent Pahari leaders, including former minister Mushtaq Ahmad Shah Bukhari and former MLC Shahnaz Ganai, had joined BJP after the Central govt added four communities, including Paharis, to the Scheduled Tribes list.
