JioCinema teases a new ‘Ads Free’ plan

JioCinema is now live-streaming the Indian Premier League 2024 for free, featuring T20 matches with occasional ads for viewers. Now it is planning to introduce a new ‘ads free’ subscription plan. JioCinema teased the plan during the IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals on April 20, with JioCinema sharing the ad on their platform the next day.

The company hinted at the upcoming plan on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Change is constant, but your plan doesn’t have to be. A new plan. Coming April 25th,” accompanied by a video. Though specifics about the plan remain scarce, the latest ad indicates a probable ad-free tier introduction.

Currently, JioCinema offers a subscription plan at Rs 999 per year, with the option of a monthly plan priced at Rs 99. The JioCinema Premium subscription, known as the “JioCinema Best of Hollywood Plan,” grants access to premium content from HBO and other channels. Users can utilize the plan on up to 4 devices, ensuring top-quality video and audio support.

Earlier this year, Reliance Industries and Walt Disney finalized a merger, resulting in a collaboration to combine their Indian TV and streaming media assets. This joint venture aspires to establish a prominent TV and digital streaming platform for entertainment and sports content in India, integrating renowned media assets from entertainment (such as Colors, StarPlus, StarGOLD) and sports (like Star Sports and Sports18), as stated in a joint announcement by the companies.
