JEE Main 2024 Result Declared: Increase in cut-off by 2.45%; record 56 candidates score 100 percentile

JEE Main 2024 Session 2 Result: The National Testing Agency (NTA) today released the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 result for session 2. Those who appeared for JEE Main April session can check their scores at the official website — jeemain.nta.ac.in.

In 2024 exams, a total of 9.24 lakh candidates registered, of which 8.2 lakh appeared for the JEE Main 2023 exams, held in January and April.

Increase in 100 percentilers

This time, the number of 100 percentilers has increased by 13 candidates in comparison to 2023 as a total of 56 candidates have received 100 NTA score in Paper 1 (BE/BTech), of which two are girls (Sanvi Jain from Karnataka and Shayna Sinha from Delhi), and the rest are male candidates. This number has increased from 43 in 2023, of which only one girl, Ridhi Kamlesh Kumar Maheshwari from Karnataka, had attained the 100 percentile.

In the January session, a total of 23 had reached the 100 percentile mark. Telangana lead with seven students achieving this milestone, closely followed by Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan, each boasting three 100 percentile holders. Delhi and Haryana each had two students at the 100 percentile mark, while Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Karnataka each had one student who had scored perfect marks.

Telangana reports highest number of toppers

Like last year, Telangana has reported the highest number of 100 percentilers in JEE Main this year too. In 2023, there were 11 students from Telangana who had scored 100 percentiler. This figured has increased to 15 this year. This is followed by Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, who have 7 students with 100 percentilers each, as compared to 2 and 5 in 2023 respectively.

Delhi NCR’s figure of number of 100 percentilers increased from 2 in 2023 to 6 in 2024, followed by Rajasthan with 7 toppers.

However, there are a few states such as West Bengal, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh who had a topper each last year but have not gotten any 100 percentiler this time. Uttar Pradesh, which had four 100 percentilers this year, only had one such candidate this time.

Registrations

Number of common candidates registered in both sessions (January/April) of the JEE main 2024 examination were 924636, and number of common candidates who appeared in both sessions (January/April) were 822899.

Total number of candidates registered in January 2024 (session 1) examination were 1221624, of which 1170048 candidates appeared. A total of 1179569 registered in April 2024 (session 2), out of which 1067959 candidates appeared for the exams.

Total number of unique candidates registered in both sessions (January/April) of the JEE main 2024 were 1476557, of which 1415110 appeared for the exams.

This time, 1067959 out of 1179569 appeared for the session 2 exams, out of which 377921 were general students, 134465 were general EWS, 416440  were OBC-NCL, 103422 were SC and 35711 were ST candidates.

Last year, the total of number of registrations went up from 10.26 lakh in 2022 to 11.62 lakh in 2023, of which 11.13 lakh candidates appeared in both sessions of the exam held on 13 dates between January 24 and April 15.

JEE Cut-off

This time, for general category candidates, the cut off for JEE (Advanced) is 93.23 which is up from 90.77 in 2023, up from 88.4 in 2022, 87.9 in 2021. The qualifying scores for general candidates were 90.3 and 89.7 in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

For SC candidates, the cut-off is 60.09, which is a big jump from 51.97 in 2023, as against 43.08 in 2022, 46.8 in 2021, 50.1 in 2020, and 54.01 in 2019. Cut-off for ST students is 46.69, up from 37.23 in 2023, 26.7 in 2022, 34.6 in 2021. The bar was higher in 2020 and 2019 with qualifying scores at 39.06 and 44.3 respectively.

The OBC (non-creamy layer) cut off has also increased to 79.67 this time from 73.61 in 2023, as against 67 in 2022, 68.02 in 2021, 72.8 in 2020. For the EWS category candidates, the cut off this time is 75.62, compares to last year’s 63.11.
