Qatar Open: Brazilian Football Icon and legend Ronaldinho Gaucho was in attendance to see Elena Rybakina make easy work of Leylah Fernandez in a 6-4, 6-2 win during the Qatar Open 2024 quarterfinals.

The 2002 Fifa World Cup winner with Brazil and the 2006 UEFA Champions League winner with Barcelona rocked up in a Paris Saint Germain hoodie and was seen enjoying the Kazakh tennis starlet’s performance. In a video posted by Sky Sports Tennis on Twitter “O Rei” acknowledged his broadcast by dropping his classic celebration during the first set of the quarterfinal encounter.

The Brazilian’s appearance doesn’t come as a surprise as “Dinho” has been spectated at a number of marquee events in Qatar with his most recent appearance prior to Qatar open was in the Formula 1 Qatar GP Last year.

The World number three Elena Rabynka is one of the favourites alongside Iga Swiatek to win this year’s Qatar open after storming her way to the semi finals. She kick started her Qatar open campaign with a 6-2, 6-1 drubbing of China’s Zhu Lin. The Kazakh then went on to defeat America’s Emma Navarro in three sets and in Quarterfinals she took care of business against Canadian Leylah Fernandez.

Rybakina is all set to lock horns with AnastasiaPavlyuchenkova in the Qatar Open semifinals. The match will start at 7:30 pm IST however there is no official agreement to telecast or live stream the event in India.
