Mount Ruang, a volcano in Indonesia, erupted on Wednesday prompting evacuation orders in the North Sulawesi province. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) announced it was assessing the risk of tsunamis to Okinawa. The volcano could be seen spewing ash, lava and smoke.

Indonesia’s National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) had issued a press release on Wednesday, warning locals of an increased volcanic activity. Officials raised the alert level to three. According to BNPB, at least 838 residents had to be evacuated from the Sitaro Islands Regency, North Sulawesi during Mount Raung’s early stages of a full-scale eruption.
